Hi once again to the Sound Scoop for your weekly dose of music discovery. This week we are sticking with the chill vibe song sequence, which is why I chose Men I Trust with their song Show Me How. They are an indie band based in Montreal, Canada consisting of 3 members: Emmanuelle Proulx, Jessy Caron, and Dragos Chiriac.
They formed in 2014, the year of their first release on May 28 with a self-titled album. This week’s song was released as a single on February 28, 2018, and later formed part of their album Oncle Jazz as the 15th track.
In Show Me How, he talks about her partner in this song, who doesn't seem to love her as much as she does. She wants to be nearer to her partner and let them know that she will wait for them. If you haven’t noticed a common theme in my song recommendations, they all talk about love and to be honest, it has been fully unintentional. But I will say they are the type of songs that feel so genuine from the artist because most of the time, they are speaking from a personal experience.
What I love love love about this song is how soothing Emmanuelle Proulx’s voice is, the vocalist of the band. Her voice is very calming, almost as if she is whispering to you which adds to the dreamlike sound which is accompanied by subtle bass and percussion. The lyrics are also minimal because Emmanuelle is singing very slowly but seems so sweet because she is trying to explain how she will wait for her lover and wait for them to show their love to her.
As I say always, I recommend their entire discography, especially for a cold, chilly afternoon when all you want to do is relax.

But then I understand
The friend I’m dreaming of is far away
And doesn’t feel my love
But I do”
